My co-worker got married about two years ago. My husband and I attended the wedding and gave the newlyweds a fifty-dollar gift certificate from Macy’s. Did we receive a thank you card? No! Did she say anything about the gift? No! I’m sure I would have heard something if we hadn’t given a gift. Prior to the wedding, a small group of colleagues gave her a bridal shower. No thank you. They are now having a baby shower, and of course another gift is expected. I don’t like being taken for granted or people thinking that they’re entitled. Lack of appreciation doesn’t get anyone too far in my book. I think I’ll be sick the day of the shower.
